Concrete Footing Volume Calculator

This calculator helps determine the volume of concrete needed for rectangular footings, including cases with inner voids. Simply enter the outer and inner dimensions along with the thickness to get the total concrete volume required for the footer.

Concrete Footer Volume Formula

Formula
$$\text{Volume} = \left( \text{ow} \cdot \text{ol} – \text{iw} \cdot \text{il} \right) \cdot t$$

Where:

  • $$\text{ow}$$ — outer width (ft)
  • $$\text{ol}$$ — outer length (ft)
  • $$\text{iw}$$ — inner width (ft)
  • $$\text{il}$$ — inner length (ft)
  • $$t$$ — thickness (ft)

This formula is used when a footing has an outer rectangle and a hollow inner section (e.g., for plumbing or anchor blocks). By subtracting the inner area from the outer and multiplying by thickness, the volume of concrete needed is precisely calculated. Common in civil and structural engineering for foundation planning.
