90 Degree Mitered Corner Converter

This tool helps you calculate the mitered length of a 90-degree bend in electrical conduit or pipe, factoring in bend height and elbow width. It’s essential for electricians and engineers to ensure precise layout and minimal material waste during conduit installations.

Mitered Corner Length Estimator

Input Fields
w
mm
Width of the conductor at the corner
h
mm
Height of the conductor at the corner
If enabled, the result will update automatically when you change any value.

90-Degree Mitered Corner Length Formula

Formula
$$x = w \cdot \left(1.04 + 1.30 \cdot e^{-1.35 \cdot \frac{h}{w}} \right)$$

Where:

  • $$x$$ = mitered corner length (mm)
  • $$w$$ = elbow width (mm)
  • $$h$$ = elbow height (mm)

This equation calculates the effective conduit length around a 90-degree corner based on elbow width and height, accounting for the bend geometry.

90-Degree Mitered Corner – Calculation Example

Given:

  • $$w$$ = 50 mm
  • $$h$$ = 25 mm

Calculation:

  1. $$x = 50 \cdot \left(1.04 + 1.30 \cdot e^{-1.35 \cdot \frac{25}{50}} \right)$$
  2. $$x = 50 \cdot \left(1.04 + 1.30 \cdot e^{-0.675} \right)$$
  3. $$x = 50 \cdot \left(1.04 + 1.30 \cdot 0.509 \right)$$
  4. $$x = 50 \cdot (1.04 + 0.662) = 50 \cdot 1.702$$
  5. $$x = 85.1 \text{ mm}$$

This calculator is useful in conduit and piping layout tasks, enabling faster and more accurate fabrication planning. It helps reduce installation errors, conserve material, and streamline routing in confined or complex spatial environments. Whether working with metal, PVC, or fiberglass conduit, this calculator offers a reliable way to estimate cut length and optimize segment placement.
