Fitness Age Estimator Calculator
Estimate your fitness age — a reflection of your physical capacity compared to your actual age — using your resting heart rate, activity level, and other health metrics. This tool gives you a general idea of how “young” or “old” your cardiovascular system is based on fitness habits.
Estimate Your Biological Fitness Age
VO₂Max-Based Fitness Age Formula (Simplified)
Where:
- $$MHR= 220−Age$$ (Max Heart Rate)
- $$RHR$$ = Resting Heart Rate (in bpm)
Then, fitness age is estimated by comparing this VO₂Max value to age-based population norms.
Fitness Age – Calculation Example
Example:
- Age = 35
- RHR = 60 bpm
- $$\text{MHR} = 220 – 35 = 185$$
- $$\text{VO₂Max} = 15.3 × (185 / 60) ≈ 47.15$$
Based on VO₂Max tables, a VO₂Max of 47.15 is typical for a 25-year-old, so your fitness age ≈ 25.
Fitness age is a concept that compares your cardiovascular efficiency to the average performance for a specific chronological age.
- Lower resting heart rate and higher activity levels reduce your fitness age
- This metric is useful for motivation, health screening, and lifestyle planning
While not a diagnostic tool, it offers insight into how your body is aging functionally, not just chronologically.
