Ejection fraction
A simple online Ejection Fraction calculator to calculate the Left/Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction in percentage for the given stroke volume (mL) and end-diastolic volume (mL). The Left/Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction is the amount of blood that is pumped out into the circulatory system by the heart for each heartbeat. It is measured to check the cardiac functioning of a person's heart. Stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped by the heart in a minute.
Calculator of Left / Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction
Formula
EF= (SV/EDV) x 100
- EF = Ejection Fraction
- SV = Stroke Volume
- EDV = End Diastolic volume
Example:
A person has stroke volume of 120 mL and end diastolic volume as 150 mL, calculate Ejection Fraction.
Solution:
EF = (SV/EDV) x 100
= (120/150) x 100
= 0.8 x 100
= 80%
Left and Right ventricular ejection fraction use multi gated equilibrium method to apply separate regions in end-diastole and end-systole. Ejection fraction is measured by echocardiography. It can be obtained by dividing the volume ejected by the heart and the volume of the filled heart.
Usually, the ejection fraction is measured using the Echocardiograms, CT Scans, MRI and Cardiac Catheterization.
