Ventilation Diffuser Count Calculator

This calculator helps HVAC professionals and engineers estimate the number of air diffusers required for a given air flow rate. By inputting the airflow (Q), air velocity (v), and diffuser diameter (d), it calculates how many diffusers are needed to distribute air effectively in a ventilation system. The tool simplifies the design process for HVAC layouts in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Diffuser Count Calculation Formula

Formula
$$\text{Diffuser Count} = \frac{Q}{v \cdot A \cdot 3600}, \quad A = \pi \cdot \left(\frac{d}{2}\right)^2$$

Where:

  • $$Q$$ = airflow in m³/h
  • $$v$$ = air velocity in m/s
  • $$d$$ = diffuser diameter in meters
  • $$A$$ = cross-sectional area of diffuser in m²
  • $$3600$$ = seconds in one hour (to convert velocity to hourly volume)

This formula is used in ventilation and HVAC design to determine how many diffusers are needed based on desired airflow, diffuser size, and acceptable air speed. For instance, larger diffusers or lower velocities reduce the number needed. The result aids in balancing performance and noise in system design. This calculator ensures precise diffuser selection for energy-efficient air distribution.
