Quarterly Compound Annuity Formula

Formula
$$A = D \times \left[ (1 + r)^{2/3} + (1 + r)^{1/3} + 1 \right] \times (1 + r)^n$$

Where:

  • $$A$$ = total future value of the annuity
  • $$D$$ = quarterly payment
  • $$r$$ = annual interest rate per compounding period (as a decimal)
  • $$n$$ = number of years (each with 3 payments per year)

This formula accounts for the timing of quarterly payments within each year, applying appropriate compounding adjustments for each installment. It’s especially helpful for estimating the future value of annuity products, investment plans, or loans with three payments per year spaced evenly. The calculator assumes compound interest is applied on an annual basis with payment timing factored into the formula.
