Estimate at Completion (EAC) Calculator

This Estimate at Completion (EAC) Calculator provides multiple methods to forecast the total cost of a project based on current performance metrics like actual cost, earned value, and cost and schedule efficiency.

Project Estimate at Completion Calculator

Input Fields
AC
$
Enter the actual cost incurred so far
BAC
$
Enter the total project budget
EV
$
Enter the earned value
ETC
$
Enter the bottom-up estimate to complete
PV

If enabled, the result will update automatically when you change any value.

Estimate at Completion (EAC) Formulas

Formula
\[ EAC = AC + ETC \] \[ EAC = \frac{BAC}{CPI} \] \[ EAC = AC + (BAC – EV) \] \[ EAC = AC + \frac{(BAC – EV)}{CPI \times SPI} \]

Where:

  • $$EAC$$ = Estimate at Completion (forecasted total cost)
  • $$AC$$ = Actual Cost (amount spent so far)
  • $$ETC$$ = Estimate to Complete (expected cost to finish remaining work)
  • $$BAC$$ = Budget at Completion (original total budget)
  • $$EV$$ = Earned Value (value of work actually performed)
  • $$CPI$$ = Cost Performance Index (efficiency of cost usage)
  • $$SPI$$ = Schedule Performance Index (efficiency of schedule usage)

The Estimate at Completion (EAC) Calculator is a critical tool for project managers to predict the final project cost based on different performance scenarios. By analyzing project spending and work performance metrics, this calculator helps identify potential overruns early and enables better budgeting and management actions.
