ProPoints Calculation Formula

Formula
$$\text{ProPoints} = \max \left\{ \text{round} \left( \frac{16 \cdot p + 19 \cdot c + 45 \cdot f + 5 \cdot r}{175} \right), 0 \right\}$$

Where:

  • $$p$$ = protein (grams)
  • $$c$$ = carbohydrates (grams)
  • $$f$$ = fat (grams)
  • $$r$$ = fiber (grams)


This ProPoints formula was used in earlier versions of the Weight Watchers program to assign a single point value to foods based on macronutrient content.

  • Higher protein increases point value moderately
  • Fat and carbs increase points more significantly
  • Fiber slightly reduces overall point impact
