BAI and BMI Calculator

This calculator compares your Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Adiposity Index (BAI) to provide a more complete analysis of your body composition. BMI uses weight and height, while BAI uses hip circumference and height — together, they help assess obesity and health risks more accurately.

BAI and BMI Formulas

Formula
$$\text{BMI} = \frac{\text{weight (kg)}}{\text{height (m)}^2}$$ $$\text{BAI} = \frac{\text{hip circumference (cm)}}{\text{height (m)}^{1.5}} – 18$$

BMI is a widely used metric for assessing general weight status, but it doesn’t distinguish between fat and muscle. BAI, in contrast, estimates body fat percentage using hip size and height, without needing your weight. By using both indices, you can better understand whether excess weight is due to fat or muscle, and whether you’re at risk of conditions like obesity, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease. These tools are particularly useful for health assessments, fitness planning, and monitoring physical changes over time.
