Energy Expenditure Formula

Formula
$$\text{TDEE} = \left(66 + (13.7 \times \text{Weight}) + (5 \times \text{Height}) – (6.8 \times \text{Age})\right) \times \text{Activity Factor} $$ $$\text{TDEE} = \left(655 + (9.6 \times \text{Weight}) + (1.8 \times \text{Height}) – (4.7 \times \text{Age})\right) \times \text{Activity Factor} $$

Explanation:
TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total number of calories burned each day, accounting for both resting metabolic rate and physical activity. The result helps you adjust your caloric intake for weight loss, maintenance, or gain.

Total Energy Expenditure includes your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and calories burned through daily activities. This calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation adjusted by an activity multiplier:

  • Sedentary (1.2)
  • Lightly active (1.375)
  • Moderately active (1.55)
  • Very active (1.725)
  • Extra active (1.9)

It’s ideal for athletes, dieters, and anyone tracking calorie needs.
